Find the Correct Records Office
The right contact depends on whether the person left Washington County Jail, entered state custody, remains under supervision, or moved through a federal system. Use the office that created the fact being checked. A court order can explain the authority for release, but the jail records the physical release or transfer. An IDOC profile covers state prison and parole, not an ordinary county bond-out.

Sheriff Ross Schultze operates the jail, with Chief Deputy Charles Carroll. Ask this office for a county booking record, booking photograph, and the date, time, authority, type, or destination of a release or transfer. No official records hours or local fee schedule was found. Verify before visiting, request an electronic response, and ask for an advance cost estimate.

The Circuit Clerk is the official court-record keeper and routes online case searches through Judici. Contact the clerk for bond or pretrial orders, disposition, sentence, probation entries, commitment orders, and copies when an online docket summary is unclear. The court’s order does not replace the sheriff’s release timestamp.

The PRB handles parole or mandatory-supervision conditions, certain hearings, revocations, and final-discharge decisions. The current Walnut Street address controls over older conflicting references.
Notifications and Federal Systems
Illinois VINE is available at 866-566-8439 around the clock. IDOC registration assistance is 877-776-0755. VINE provides notices from participating source systems, but the reporting agency owns the underlying custody record.
For sentenced federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A federal pretrial or transport record may instead belong to the U.S. Marshals Service, whose FOIA office accepts custody-record requests through its Public Access Link or by mail at Office of General Counsel, FOIA Unit, CG-3, 15th Floor, Washington, DC 20530-0001. Washington County Jail houses some USMS prisoners, so leaving the local building may be a federal transfer.
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System only when an agency record or valid immigration identifier supports that route. The ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line is 888-351-4024, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern. No Washington County ICE contract was verified.
